Djokovic Leads Popyrin in Head-to-Head Ahead of Wimbledon Clash

Previewing the Third-Round Matchup at Wimbledon 2023

Novak Djokovic, the seven-time Wimbledon champion, will face Alexei Popyrin in the third round of the 2023 tournament. Djokovic has a 2-0 head-to-head record against the Australian. They last met at the Australian Open earlier this year.

Djokovic, the top seed at Wimbledon, has yet to drop a set in the tournament. He defeated Kwon Soon-woo and Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets in the first two rounds. Popyrin, meanwhile, upset 11th seed Jannik Sinner in the first round before defeating Dennis Novak in the second round.

Djokovic is the clear favorite to win the match, but Popyrin has shown that he can be a dangerous opponent, especially on grass. He reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2021 and defeated Djokovic in the second round of the Rotterdam Open in 2020.

The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday, July 1. The winner will face either Tim van Rijthoven or Nikoloz Basilashvili in the fourth round.
