Celtics Mavs Game 2

Mavericks NBA Finals Game 2 Highlights

Celtics Move Closer to another Title

The Boston Celtics are one win away from claiming another NBA championship after defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 2 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night.

Boston's Depth Proves Too Much for Dallas

The Celtics' depth was on full display in Game 2 as they got contributions from all over the roster. Jrue Holiday led the way with 26 points and 11 rebounds, Jayson Tatum had 22 points, and Jaylen Brown added 19 points. The Celtics also got key contributions from Marcus Smart (11 points, 10 assists), Al Horford (9 points, 10 rebounds), and Robert Williams III (7 points, 11 rebounds).

In contrast, the Mavericks were led by Luka Doncic's 25 points, but he got little help from his teammates. Kristaps Porzingis, who returned from a calf injury in Game 2, was held to just 12 points on 5-of-14 shooting. Tim Hardaway Jr. added 15 points, but he was also inefficient, shooting 5-of-16 from the field.

The Celtics Ground the Mavs Bigs

One of the keys to the Celtics' victory was their ability to contain the Mavericks' big men. Porzingis and Dwight Powell were held to a combined 16 points on 9-of-26 shooting. The Celtics did this by sending multiple defenders at the Mavs' big men and making them uncomfortable in the paint.

The Celtics Will Look to Leave Boston with a 2-0 Series Lead

The Celtics will now look to leave Boston with a 2-0 series lead when they take on the Mavericks in Game 3 on Thursday night. The Celtics have been dominant at home in the playoffs, going 8-1 at TD Garden. If they can win Game 3, they will be in a great position to close out the series in Dallas.

The Mavericks, on the other hand, will need to find a way to generate more offense if they want to stay in the series. Doncic has been the Mavericks' best player all season, but he will need more help from his teammates if they want to upset the Celtics.
